FollowDelray Beach Star Power Grows
After Kevin Anderson won the 2012 Delray Beach Open title, he decided to stay put — he and wife Kelsey bought a home and put down roots in the area. The South African, who finished world No. 12 for 2015, has given every indication that his top tennis is also here to stay.
Anderson has signed on to play in his seventh straight Delray Beach Open (February 15-21) after enjoying his best season on the ATP World Tour that saw him finish just outside the world’s Top 10 at No. 12. He reached his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the US Open after a win over No. 3 Andy Murray, and also played in three ATP finals, recording his third career tournament win.
Joining Anderson in Delray Beach’s ATP World Tour field are world No. 18 Bernard Tomic and Delray Beach defending champion Ivo Karlovic, who once again led the ATP in aces and enjoyed his second-best career ranking (No. 23) in 2015. Tomic is making his third appearance at the event while Karlovic, 37, is the ATP career leader in aces with more than 10,000 . Last year, Anderson, Karlovic and American John Isner became the first ATP trio in history to each record more than 1,000 aces in a season.
Anderson, Tomic and Karlovic join a group of Delray Beach Open commitments that already includes world No. 14 Milos Raonic, No. 28 Grigor Dimitrov, DBO 2006 champion Tommy Haas and the 10-time world No. 1 and Delray Beach defending doubles champion Bryan Brothers.
The 10-day Delray Beach Open also includes an ATP Champions Tour event featuring an American trio (Mardy Fish, James Blake, Aaron Krickstein) vs an international team (Mark Philippoussis, Greg Rusedski, Sebastien Grosjean). The legends play on President’s Day weekend (February 12-14).
The 24th annual event has a number of ticket promotions and packages as well as special events lined up for 2016. Senior Days BOGO offer, Food Drive complimentary tickets, a pair of Ladies Day Luncheons and a Legends Clinic are just a sampling of an exciting 10-day lineup.
