- Pliskova is the first Czech players to win the singles title in the tournament's 41-year history. 
- Pliskova dropped one set en route to the title, against No.4 seed Ostapenko in the quarterfinals.
- Vandeweghe was appearing in her sixth WTA final and first on clay. Her record in finals falls to 2-4.
