Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki announced her engagement to long-time boyfriend and pro golfer Rory McIlroy on Tuesday night December 31, 2013 via Twitter.

The two were in Australia ringing in the new year, and McIlroy’s camp confirmed that he popped the question in Sydney, where Wozniacki is preparing for the upcoming Australian Open.

McIlroy wrote on Twitter, with the attached photo: “Happy New Year everyone! I have a feeling it’s going to be a great year!! My first victory of 2014 #shesaidyes!!”

A few moments later, Wozniacki took to her social media channel as well: “Happy New Year everyone! Rory and I started 2014 with a bang! … I said YES!!!!”

Wozniacki, 23, began dating McIlroy, 24, in the summer of 2011 and the two quickly ascended to the top rankings in their respective sports. Despite rumors of a split in 2013, the two were often seen traveling to each other’s tournaments with no official word.

Wozniacki will next play the Sydney International tournament while McIlroy is scheduled to open his 2014 campaign in Abu Dhabi.
